Case Study: Azienda Ospedaliero-Universitaria Modena

REQUIREMENT

The request for one of our fire-fighting units to be located inside the construction of the new Economato Warehouse, a modern collection and storage centre for materials serving the activities of the Hospital-University Polyclinic of Modena.
It is a single-storey prefabricated building to be used as a warehouse with a part intended for offices, with a total size of 80.00x12.50m and a total external height of 11.20m. 
The warehouse is equipped with a fixed automatic Sprinkler fire extinguishing system, powered by an underground water storage tank equipped with an Idroelettrica S.p.A. motor pump unit.

IDROELETTRICA’S PROPOSAL

To cover the need presented by the designer, a FIREBOX NFPA was proposed to be installed on the existing tank. The reference hydraulic diagram, in this case, is that of the underground storage tank with the pump compartment located immediately above it. The choice of using this type of machine for the construction of the unit ensures that the main pump is always positive head, thus eliminating any problem related to the priming of the pumps and to the accessibility of the components of the pressurisation unit.

THE RESULT

Thanks to the synergy created between the design studio, installer and our technical office, it was possible to proceed with the first commissioning of the entire system.  Also in this case, Idroelettrica was able to give the customer the best possible service, consisting of qualified technical advice before and after the sale, made possible by the continuous training and application of the standard by our staff.
