Case Study: Laumas elettronica

REQUIREMENT
LAUMAS has grown steadily over the years, under the guidance of the founder's children, Laura and Massimo, thanks above all to two key factors: innovation and internationalisation (present today in 100 countries throughout the world). The expansion project was born from the need, now physiological, for new spaces that better meet the needs of a growing company. A new Warehouse of 1000 square metres has been planned; meeting and conference rooms, a room dedicated to Webinars (a very useful tool for distance training of the dealers), new relaxation spaces and a new Metrological Laboratory. One of the critical aspects of an intervention of this magnitude, designed and implemented with an ECO-SUSTAINABLE GREEN viewpoint, was the integration of an adequate fire protection system.
 

IDROELETTRICA’S PROPOSAL
In agreement with the designer, Idroelettrica proposed an external prefabricated fire-fighting module FIREBOX provided for suction lift installation, made with submerged vertical pumps (VERTICAL TURBINE PUMPS) in accordance with UNI EN 11292 and UNI EN 12845 standards. The module has been positioned on a special support structure made by the customer. The underground water reserve with capacity m³ 80 d. 3000(mm) and length 12600(mm) was made of steel, with external coating suitable for burial, internal coating with anti-corrosive paint.

THE RESULT
The location of the fire-fighting system and the hydraulic layout to be respected have favoured the installation of a system consisting of an underground accumulation tank and the pump compartment placed immediately above it. The choice of using this type of machine for the construction of the pumping unit ensures that the main pump is always and in any case positive head, thus eliminating any problem related to the priming of the pump and to the accessibility of the components of the pressurisation unit.
